This year, Family Literacy Day is on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. It is the perfect opportunity for family members to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of reading by engaging in literacy-rich activities together as a family.
In consultation with our school’s teacher-librarian, Ms. M. Puopolo, we would like to direct your attention to some excellent and fun resources which promote and facilitate family literacy in meaningful and and fun ways!
Highlights:
- Website: ABC Life Literacy Canada
- Purpose: to promote literacy at home.
- This year’s theme: Making mealtime family learning time.
- We have attached a Google slide deck for St. Giovanni Battista Scalabrini CES families to use. It is based on information from the ABC Life Literacy website.
- There are family activities to be completed at home – if you and your children desire, students can share their learning and work with the school by bringing these completed activities to the library, and the school will be happy to post student artifacts and celebrate their great work!
